Defending the Blinds Against a TAG
The TAG's late-position steal is the most honest theft in poker: correct frequency, correct sizing, correct follow-through. That honesty is the exploit surface, because every counter in the textbook actually works against someone playing the textbook.

Defend the chart, not wider
Against maniac and LAG steals you widen; against a TAG the standard defense range is right: suited hands, connected hands, broadways. Their range is wide but real, and over-defending junk gives their postflop discipline targets.
The flop c-bet comes almost always; plan for it preflop
A TAG steal-and-c-bet is one motion. Your defends should already know their flop plan: pairs and draws continue, total misses fold without ceremony, and the middle (backdoors, overcards) continues on boards that favor the defense.
Check-raise range boards, exactly like against the LAG, minus a notch
Low connected flops smash defending ranges; TAG c-bets fold to check-raises there at honest frequencies. The difference from the LAG version: when the TAG continues, they HAVE it, so the check-raise is one street unless you improve.
Punish the turn give-up on schedule
TAG c-bet, turn check is the most reliable surrender pattern in low-stakes poker. Bet any two. This single line, defended blind to flop call to turn probe, pays for the whole blind-defense enterprise against TAGs.

TAG opens the cutoff, you defend Q♠ 9♠ in the big blind. Flop J♠ 8♦ 4♣: they c-bet small, you call with the gutshot plus backdoor spades plus overcard. Turn 2♥: they check. Bet two-thirds. They fold ace-king and king-queen at frequencies that make the flop call print, and when they call instead you still have outs. The line loses the hand sometimes and wins the war on schedule.
